The easiest caramelized Bourbon onion recipe you will ever have!
Caramelized onions are so easy to make! And adding bourbon takes them to another level of flavor.
When I think of layered and flavorful, I usually think of myself. But not today! Today is the day we discuss the holy grail of accoutrements in the culinary world: Caramelized onions.
And we are adding perhaps the most American of ingredients into the already perfect world of onions which is? You guessed it, BOURBON!
I know recipes are intimidating. From someone who has spent years working restaurant cooking lines, I can personally attest that following a recipe can be the bane of one’s existence. Especially if you buy the wrong cookbook or go to the wrong site.
It’s just all so sterile and gross in its demeanor and vernacular.
But this is the easiest of the easy. Arguably this is the easiest recipe right behind a PB&J sandwich.
And these things pair well with just about any savory food such as,
Or even eat them by themselves if you are that much of a culinary badass. There really isn't much that you can't pair with these onions.
The steps are extremely simple
Slice your favorite onions into little strands. The word is Julienne is you're handy with a knife.
Thrown the onions into a pan on medium low heat with 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Let them cook SLOWLY for 40 to 50 minutes. These will be worth the wait!
In the final 10 minutes, splash about a quarter cup of sweet bourbon in the pan and let that cook down. The sweetness of the bourbon is important because it's replacing brown sugar here. I recommend Jim Beam vanilla. If you have regular bourbon, that's fine too. Then Voila!
Wait, is that it? YES! That is f**king it. Easiest recipe in the world and it’ll blow the scalp right off any person you give them too.
Mix several of your favorite onions together if you have that culinary confidence that I know you have! I like a 50/50 mix of white and yellow onions.
So that is it. Make these delicious little nuggets of flavor and shoot over to our Instagram and let us know how you did.
This was amazing! My daughter loved it and everybody thought it was a great idea as a wedding registry! We added a glass top so it may be used for years to come with the memory of their special day.
Craftsmanship was fantastic.
Thank you all for your thought process in making this! Very unique!
These tables were great. I got them two years ago, not sure why I am getting 100 emails about writing more reviews, but I really loved them and recommend them for anyone looking for a cool idea for a guest book at their wedding!
