5 Scrumptious Restaurants Near the Jim Beam Stillhouse

Usually when you are about to go to a stillhouse, you want to grab some food beforehand. Munchies will help stem the tide of alcohol and keep you in the tasting room for longer. Or, they can be the finishing point on an amazing bourbon journey. Whether you decide to eat before or after your tour, you're going to want to go somewhere complimentary and delicious. So, we would like to share our five favorite restaurants near the Jim Beam Stillhouse in Clermont, KY. We've ordered them in distance from the Stillhouse, so have no fear of us playing favorites here. All of these picks are prime. 1. Fred's Smokehouse 526 Happy Hollow Rd, Clermont, KY 40110-8900 If you're a big enough fan of Jim Beam, then you might find something strange about the address of this restaurant. Yes-- it's located right within the stillhouse grounds! Named after the current master distiller, Fred Noe, this cafe-style restaurant is the perfect place to grab a quick bite. You can get topped off for less than $10. We recommend the pulled pork. 2. LightsOut Bar and Grill 1579 KY-44, Shepherdsville, KY 40165 Not done drinking? Don't worry. There are plenty of bars in the area, but this one is our favorite for its foodie fare. This Bar and Grill is the perfect place to sate a hangover the morning after, or continue your night/day/morning of drinking. Don't be surprised when they bring out a complimentary pre-appetizer of pork rinds. Try the bourbon wings if you want to know the second-best way to get that sweet, Kentucky love into your system. 3. El Nopal 500 E Highway 44 E, Shepherdsville, KY There are a couple of great Mexican restaurants near the distillery, but this one is by far our favorite. Keep your buzz with some margaritas, or indulge in their chorizo. You're on vacation. Treat yourself! One possible downside? The portion size is a bit smaller than your average Mexican restaurant. But at this point, you will hopefully be too full of bourbon to notice-- and it's kind of a hassle to deal with leftovers when you're traveling, isn't it? It's not a downside in our opinion. 4. Cattleman's Roadhouse 139 Historical Trail, Shepherdsville, KY 40165 I get it. Sometimes, after a long day of bourbon, you need to find the largest hunk of meat possible and put it in your face. For that, you need to go to Cattleman's. Everyone rants and raves about the Surf n' Turf, but in all honesty, it was the Blackened Salmon that won be over. And if meat's not your jam, check out their salad bar. We have it on the good authority from some vegetarian friends that it's one of the biggest and best in the Louisville area. As a bonus, all dressings and pre-made salads are gluten-free! 5. Hometown Pizza 109 Blakenrod Blvd, Bardstown, KY 40013-6561 Scientific studies have never claimed that bourbon and pizza go together well, but then again, we're not what you'd consider scientists. Hometown is chain local to Kentucky and it's some of the best in the state. If you're staying in Bardstown during your Bourbon Trail trip, it's just short jaunt away. We were big fans of the White Chicken pizza, bt make sure you get it with peppadews for an extra kick.
